CRD 2008 Master program
This
year two students of Department of Physics Yerevan State University: Tigran
Karapetyan and Bagrat Mailyan obtained master’s degree in physics. Both have
prepared their masters theses at the Cosmic Ray Division of the Alikhanyan
Physics Institute . Scientific advisor for both theses was the head of CRD, Professor
A. Chilingarian.
T. Karapetyan (photo below) defended thesis on “The barometric coefficient for the monitors of Aragats Cosmic Ray Research Center”.
Tigran Karapetyan is now employee of CRD, continuing working on the determination of the ASEC parameters as measured in the beginning of 24th solar cycle.
Bagrat Mailyan (photo below) defended thesis with distinction on the “Estimation of the energy threshold of NAMMM and SEVAN particle detectors”. He passes examinations and has begun studying for his PhD at the Cosmic Ray Division. The title of his research work is “Investigation of Daily variations of cosmic ray intensity in the beginning of 24th solar activity cycle”.
- SEVAN is the acronym for Space Environment Viewing and Analysis; NAMMM is Nor Amberd Multi-directional Muon Monitor.
- ASEC is acronym for Aragats Space Environmental Center established by CRD in 2000.
